Farmington Hills, Mich. (February 27, 2013)---If you are 18 or older, find high-quality free and low-cost health screenings for serious illnesses, such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, and heart disease, at the Project Healthy Living event at the William Costick Center at 28600 Eleven Mile Road in Farmington Hills. This free, open-to-the-public public health event is locally sponsored by the Farmington Area Commission on Aging, the City of Farmington Hills Senior Division, and Botsford Hospital. This event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2013. Enter the Costick Center through Door A.
Receiving regular health screenings are essential steps to protect your family from "silent-killer" diseases that don't present symptoms. Free testing services include balance, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), bone density (9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. only), hearing, height and weight, lung function, memory, and vision. Counseling and referral are also free services. For nominal fees, blood testing and analysis ($5 to $50) and ultrasounds measuring blockage of the arteries and EKGs of the heart ($25 to $199) will be available.
