A Family Medicine career offers physicians a vast array of opportunities. There is significant satisfaction in the privilege and challenge of caring for the "whole" patient. An accredited Family Medicine/OMM residency enables you to competently care for 90% of your patients' needs and the choice to refer to a specialist as needed. It is the only specialty that offers the fulfillment of caring for your patient from cradle to grave and also caring for their circle of friends, neighbors and family.

Other advantages include the ability to diversify and or specialize within the scope of family practice depending upon your personal interest such as in geriatrics, sports med, OMT, OB, etc. No other "doctor job" allows the flexibility to "mold" your career to your needs and interest. A family practitioner can care for hospitalized patients or develop strictly an office-based practice, work part time or full time, weekends or no weekends, and service nursing homes or not. It is a "family friendly" career opportunity.

If managing a variety of patients you care about, knowing generations of a family and the ability to control and balance your life is important to you, Family Medicine/OMM is the right choice, and Botsford has the right program!

ACGME Application
Family Medicine is planning to submit their ACGME application in July 2015 under the Single Accreditation System agreement. Once the application is submitted, the program will receive pre-accreditation status and a site visit will be scheduled. Once the site visit is over and the ACGME Residency Committee for Family Medicine has met, an accreditation decision will be made. Botsford’s Family Medicine program is committed to meeting program requirements, as specified by the ACGME, to ensure accreditation is granted.
